#Pawties and Events are where anipals and humans get together for a Twitterin’ good time. In their tweets they use an introductory hashtag (#) so everyone who wants to join in the fun can easily find them by searching Twitter for #(fill in the blank) pawty or #(event name). #Pawties and Events is where you will find out about the #Pawties taking place on  Twitter and where I will point you to the official  The Anipal Times #Pawty & Events Calendar. Remember to check out the calendar so that you can find the dates and times to mix and mingle with anipals. Now, let’s read about some of the #pawties and events that happened by the deadline for this article (oh, and if you don’t know how to #pawty, don’t worry I got you covered—just read this):

#BlogPawsChat 11 September 2012 8-10 p.m. Eastern Time, USA. Host @BlogPaws held a  fun and interactive #BlogPawsChat Twitter event and all of the anipals showed up to learn more about @BlogPaws and some other nifty things. @BlogPaws lead a great #BlogPawsChat that helped anipals learn how to join a blog hop. For those that might have missed it, a blog hop is “a blog post that includes a list of links to other bloggers’ posts with a common theme; often the links include thumbnail pics. The list of links (linky list) is shared on multiple blogs. Participants can join the hop from any blog that shares the list,” said @BlogPaws.  So, it’s sort of like paying it forward in blog-speak. A great blog hop that has spread swiftly amongst the anipal community is Wordless Wednesday.  #BlogPawsChat lead anipals in learning more about Wordless Wednesday, “this is the popular Internet practice of posting blog photos that speak for themselves–no explanations required.” A great example of a Wordless Wednesday blog hop is @PepperPom’s posting–see it here–just Pepper chomping down on a squeaky alligator toy; and then, it gets shared/linked with other anipals having a squeaky good time. #BlogPawsChat did a really great job of explaining how to participate in a blog hop, “to maximize your results, as with all social media, the more you engage with others, the more people will want to engage with you, increasing your visitors and making for more lively discussions on your own blog.” #BlogPawsChat was excellent, and this monthly online gathering is a great way for you to learn about all of the things that are in store for the upcoming BlogPaws conference being held 16-18 May 2013 in Tysons Corner, Virginia, USA. To read more about how to participate in a blog hop, read @BlogPaws write up here. Make sure you remember to join in the fun, using the #BlogPawsChat hashtag. Questions, please tweet @BlogPaws.

#PawFleetGrad 12 September 2012 4 p.m. Eastern Time, USA. Host @ScarySmartKitty welcomed anipals big and small, fuzzy and non-fuzzy, to the much anticipated #PawfleetGrad pawty that took place in the TenForward on the USSCrusher. This time #PawFleetGrad celebrated @Beta_Troi’s graduation, with the official graduation celebration that started at 8 p.m. Captain @WilWheatons_Cat was expected to provide a great speech however, just as he was getting started–well, here’s what he said, “it was supposed to be a great day, @Beta_Troi’s graduation from Pawfleet Academy. And the party was wonderful, with @CandyCanes2012, @DashKitten and @MizzBassie helping out with the barktending chores. But then, disaster struck!” Seems that @Brodie_Dog and @Beta_Troi were somehow dog and or cat-napped from the USSCrusher! Seems that @ArchDukeNecro had some shananigans going on, with Captain @WilWheathons_Cat ordering shields up and declaring, “red alert” but it was too late, could it be–a civilian boarded the USSCrusher via a holodeck. The USSCrusher shook and shimmied with all of the officers going to their posts to identify and help put an end to the chaos. Photons were ordered fired *kaboom* and ghostly hologram ships were floating about in outerspace attempting to distract the crew of the USSCrusher–but the quick-thinking of the team saved the day and trapped the *gasp,* you guessed it–a mouse, a ball of yarn and oh no, the dark side! Holy croly–#PawFleetGrad was fabulous! All the anipals eventually seemed to make it out okay, with the exception of the USSCrusher now requiring intensive rebuilding, and the graduation ceremonies needed to be delayed to ensure everyone’s safety–you can read all about the fun here and here.  You have to stay up-to-date with the #PawFleetGrad events–they are hilarious, fun, creative and outa this world!

Tune in to these entertaining and highly informative weekly shows where you can say “Hi!” to old friends and hopefully make new friends, too.
