Posing on the Pets Rock stage with my adoring fans and rock star doo-rag!

So mom really was a child of the 80s. Posters of big hair bands were all over her bedroom and she’s seen Poison in concert three times. It will likely come as no surprise that she was almost more excited than me to attend a special PetSmart event launching Bret Michaels’ new Pets Rock line when we attended BlogPaws last month.

The new line features all the leather and hard core attitude any rockin’ dog would need and is designed to “bring out your pet’s inner rock star”. I’m totally cool with that because me and the Shibbering Cheetos (@ShibberingC) ROCK!

Not surprisingly, not much of the Pets Rock clothing line fits a big boy like me. Bret Michaels is a fan of big dogs—particularly German Shepherds—but not many big dogs would be caught wearing clothes of any sort, so I was pretty okay with nothing fitting. I did however sport one of the pawesome doo-rags and I must say I look handsome don’t you think?

Pets Rock tattoo hoodie

Because we knew that very little was big enough for me, we picked up a few items for my sisfur and grandma’s pups (a doxie and a yorkie) to test out. When grandma visited we tried to put Ginger, the yorkie, into the tattoo hoodie with the cool tattoos on the sleeves but several fingers were nipped in the process so we abandoned that idea pretty quickly. Weighing in at 12 pounds, the medium size looked like it would have fit about right. Cinnamon, the doxie, is a hefty 30 pounds and we could barely get one of her sausage legs into it. It seems that the sizes run pretty small so when buying, make sure to go to the store to try stuff on or use the very handy fitting chart on the website.

Pets Rock collar and leash in black leather

There’s a cool line of collars and leashes featuring the Pets Rock logo in both black and brown leather. I thought the four-foot black leash with red accent stitching was rockin’. Again, sizes are small, and while mom hoped that the large-size collar would fit my sisfur Tess at a slim 75 pounds it was not to be. We can at least take turns walking with the leash.

We also picked up the largest of the dog dishes featuring brightly colored flames. These are high-quality melamine and, even for me, impossible to flip over. They are also top-rack dishwasher safe. Now, while mom and dad are having an evening cocktail on the patio, Tess and I join them for a sip of cool water from our Pets Rock bowl!

Pets Rock dog bed

Finally, we just got one of the cool Pets Rock dog beds in the mail. (We got the biggest one they make – up to 50 lbs. – and it’s black with skulls and guitars on it with red piping!) While it’s still not big enough for me totally, I’m pretty cool with it—it’s fluffy and I can sprawl all over it.

The Pets Rock line also sports a whole lot of dog toys. Mom says she’ll take me to PetSmart soon so we can get some!

Thanks to PetSmart for allowing me to represent The Anipal Times at the special launch event. Everything from the Pets Rock line was provided by PetSmart. All items not used are being donated to a silent auction fundraising event for Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue (@RMGDRI), The Anipal Times’ current charity.
