#Pawties and Events are where anipals and humans get together for a Twitterin’ good time. In their tweets they use an introductory hashtag (#) so everyone who wants to join in the fun can easily find them by searching Twitter for #(fill in the blank) pawty or #(event name). #Pawties and Events is where you will find out about the #Pawties taking place on Twitter and where I will point you to the official The Anipal Times #Pawty & Events Calendar. Remember to check out the calendar so that you can find the dates and times to mix and mingle with anipals. Now, let’s read about some of the #pawties and events that happened by the deadline for this article (oh, and if you don’t know how to #pawty, don’t worry I got you covered—just read this).
Christmas in July proved a welcome respite at #NipClub for anipals wilting in extreme heat. Club air conditioning was turned to full and the freezer was kept busy replenishing the stocks of ice. A few brave pals endured the heat of Santa Claws outfits, but most dressed for July and one or two took refuge in the #NipClub Christmas tree, keeping cool by napping in its branches. Bells rang out across the nearby beach as sleighs were hastily converted to run on sand, and some pals enjoyed their first-ever Christmas celebrations on a surfboard.
Thunder and lightning threatened to put a stop to the festivities but @CathyKeisha in the DJ booth and @kconlon1 behind the bar bravely stayed at their posts until they eventually were persuaded to go home because of management fears about their safety (and the small print on the #NipClub staff personal injury insurance policy). Spammers mounted a concerted attack on pawty-goers, but were routed when #NipClub sekurity chief @DuchessCrabtree led a posse of angry #NipClub members in rounding them up and handing them over to Twitter for expulsion. #NipClub trended for much of the evening at #2, and at one point even took over the #1 spot from the massively tweeted #Olympics.
London’s Heathrow Airport had to cope with a record number of arrivals as spies fresh from top-secret activities in every corner of the world jetted in for a pawty to celebrate the birthday of @4catsstrapski (Bode). James Bond was very much in evidence, as were John Steed and Emma Peel. A new spy on the block who introduced himself as “Purrson”. @StaffPurrson was made welcome as one of James Bond’s long-term friends.
A mouth-watering menu included lobster bisque and Beluga caviar, and new drinks invented specially for the occasion included the very popular Kitten Vixen, the spectacular two-coloured Double Agent, and, for coffee-lovers, the irresistible Nip Latte.
The exclusive hotel where the pawty took place was clearly unprepared for the boisterous behavior of one or two of the spies, however, as the unaccustomed freedom to reveal their true identity and spying credentials (and a few too many vodka martinis—shaken, not stirred) began to take their toll. A lack of hotel sekurity resulted in @Eddiebabycat again trying to kidnap @ShaynaCat, who had to barricade herself inside the DJ booth to be able to play her set. Undaunted, Eddie then turned his attention to a number of other female kitties before eventually landing up in jail. The exact circumstances of his arrest are unclear (though the words “cop” and “stripper” were overheard in connection with it), but it’s believed he was eventually bailed out by @EveeDevee.
Upcoming #Pawties and Events Remember to see the #Pawty and Events calendar to get more info on some other wonderful events. Get ready for #PetChat, #KeepFits, #NipClub, #CookinWifRabbits and #Purrs4Peace, held on the first Sunday of every month by co-ordinator @ConfuciusCat and weekly by other anipals (e.g. @ChloeToby) who invite you to join in purring, woofing, squeaking, tweeting or whatever other sound you make, to help to bring about a better world. Tune in to these entertaining and highly informative weekly shows where you can say “Hi!” to old friends and hopefully make new friends, too.
#SpookyShorty has completed his chemo and his lymphoma is in remission, but he still needs regular (and expensive) monthly tests, so to help with costs there’ll be a Witches, Wizards and Warlocks Ball on Saturday, 4 August from 4pm—midnight EDT (9pm—5am UK). There’ll be plenty of vampires, bats and midnight-black cats, and rumor has it that some of the staff and pupils of Hogwarts Academy may put in an appearance! There are plenty of special noms and drinks being cooked up in the cauldron, so all you have to do is point your broomstick towards twtvite and RSVP for your chance to share a little magic. Of course, you can’t get in without the magic word — it’s #WWpawty.
Korean Dog and Cat Awareness Day
Join @PepiSmartDog on 7 August to bring awareness to Korea’s dogs and cats during a global Twitterthon event from 6pm to 8pm ET. Many have heard of the dog meat trade but do not know what is involved or that many of the dogs are stolen pets, still wearing collars and bells. This social media event will help bring awareness to innocent cats and dogs caught in this terrible situation.
On 11-12 August, #NipClub will be hosting a 24-hour trip to Catnip Island Waterpark. Details of the activities are still being planned, but you can expect a chance to see the wild creatures who inhabit the waterpark as well as a tour of those areas of the island which are open to the public (and maybe one or two which officially aren’t!). There will be boat trips, adventures and the quizzes, music, noms and drinks for which #NipClub’s famous. You can find more details and a chance to collect your free ticket at the #NipClub booking office.
On Friday and Saturday 17-18 August, @BadAndy_KityKat is hosting his third annual Carnie Pawty, #CPThree — the pawty where the only goal is FUN. There will be thrilling new rides, fortune tellers, a picnic in the park, new carnie games and activities, noiseless fireworks, a few extra surprises and lots and lots of treats. If you want to, you can even bring along your own carnie-themed pics to share. The pawty lasts for 24 hours, from 7 pm ET Friday to 7pm ET Saturday (midnight Friday to midnight Saturday in UK). All you have to do is get your free tickets at the Carnie Booking Office, and then come dressed in an American-style carnival or circus outfit and be ready for FUN!
