In keeping with my moniker of “Hollywood Insider” which doesn’t ONLY mean my window overlooks Hollywood Boulevard or that I’m not allowed outside (except on the balcony), but also that I do keep my paw on the pulse of the glamorous goings on here in Hollywood and L.A. — allow me to share the latest buzz.

Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats is a nonprofit Los Angeles cat rescue organization with a really cute website! I met the Headmistress, Shawn Simons, at my vet’s office last year. I noticed her reading a copy of The Anipal Times I’d left on the counter, and she and Mom got to talking. Turns out all the Kitty Bungalow students are taken care of by my (sexy) vet, Dr. Tanya White at the Hancock Park Veterinary Clinic. Not long after that meeting, Shawn emailed us to talk about a super cool Kitty Bungalow fundraiser. Next thing you know, Mom’s on the event committee.  ; )

The Show

Shawn and some of her friends and volunteers are producing a celebrity concert ‘re-imagination’ of the Broadway musical, “Cats,” called “CATS for Cats.” The show is staged as T.S. Eliot writing the letters to his godchildren that eventually make up the book, “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats,” with celebrities performing poems and songs from the musical at the gorgeous and historic Orpheum Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, 6 August, 2011. The theatre has a capacity of 2000 and we’re hoping to sell every one of those seats for the kitties! While promising to be an incredible show in its own right, the fact that the tax deductible ticket sales will go to such a great cause makes it extra wonderful. There will also be an exclusive After Party with open bar and dessert buffet — like a #PawPawty for people!

The Celebrities

Check out this pawesome cast (and this is only a partial list – subject to change – more will be committing in the next few days): James Cromwell (Babe), Fred Willard (Best in Show), Kevin McHale (Glee), Peter Gallagher (Covert Affairs), Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad), and Mandy Moore and the So You Think You Can Dance Dancers. The musical director is Phil Reno (Broadway’s Promises, Promises, Drowsy Chaperone, The Producers) and the choreographer is Mandy Moore (So You Think You Can Dance).

Adopt A Prize Puss!

At the event, you can also “Adopt a Prize Puss” featuring adorable stuffed kitties from Build a Bear Workshop. Random kitties will be inconspicuously tagged and their adopters will win really fabulous prizes donated by artists and businesses.

Kitty Bungalow’s Mission

Kitty Bungalow rescues, neuters, socializes and shelters feral kittens, and finds them forever homes. They help even older ferals that are past their stage of adoptable socialization with their Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) program. They provide outreach and education, particularly in the often neglected South Los Angeles area, and access to free and low cost spaying and neutering. The funds raised by this great event will allow Shawn to realize her dream of a bigger, permanent facility, and expansion of Kitty Bungalow’s services and reach, which will be a blessing to an infinite number of feline lives.

“exclusive After Party with open bar and dessert buffet — like a #PawPawty for people!”

You know us Cats…curiosity, and what not…it’s in our genes….Is this the Red Carpet event Daddy Kiril is getting a ticket to in addition to the show ticket?

His sponsor, from Hartz, wasn’t sure of the details himself, as of last week, so we don’t know, and are still awaiting our tickets, and details. :-D

I forgot to mention that while Daddy will be there, he will not be able to Tweet, using my account @Nikita_TwitPuss since he doesn’t have a cell phone. :-D

Hi Smokey! If there are prize kitties left to adopt after the event, they’re going to try to adopt them out on their website. Meanwhile, email me and I’ll see if I can adopt one for you at the event! cokiethecat at anipaltimes.com

Hey folks!

Last minute tickets have been released for the CATS for Cats benefit at a super low discount price, to fill the rest of the seats. Go to http://www.kittybungalow.org, select “Best Available” and the number of seats you want, and use the code “livingsocial” for the best available tickets – INCLUDING the After Party with open bar and dessert bar for $25 per ticket! If you’re in L.A., now you HAVE TO GO! (And those who paid full price, THANK YOU from the kitties! They really need the money!)

If anyone wants to “Adopt a Prize Puss,” who can’t be at the event – email or tweet me @cokiethecat.
