Hi Pals! Is me … Lexie. Every week mum dus come ome from workin up da smoke (dat is London to you!) wiv dis magazine wot dus be called Da Big Issue.  An let me tell you, it’s a great read, we dus luv it! You can read more about in on their website wot dus be ere: http://www.bigissue.com.

Da magazine was created to elp (mainly) homeless an vulnerable people find a way to get some control back in they lives by earning a living again frew sellin da magazine. There are Big Issue sellers all ova da UK an there are two wot mum duz buy da magazine from. She buys da same one twice a week coz she feels guilty if she don’t go to the two peoples who she has got to know.

The two peeps wot she dus buy da magazine from boaf has doggies and they dus boaf be omeless. Mum got to talkin wiv dem bout their life an cuddlin the doggies and then they dun telled her bout St. Mungo’s and how they elped em get on they feet and have a place to take their dogs, a place they feel safe and happy togeva.

St. Mungo’s dus help homeless people wot dus av animals. They has been around since 1969 when it was founded by a Glaswegian. St. Mungo dus be da patron saint of Glasgow so that must be why!

 We dus be lucky in our life but, as the sayin goes, there but for the grace of god (or your deity/spiritual bein of choice), we knows dat St. Mungo’s dus have speshul place in the heart of some homeless friends of ours.

If you dus av a few bob (coins) layin about and you dus see omeless person wiv a doggie (or cat as we have seen cat too) in London, stop and buy a Big Issue or drop off a few treats and a coffee. Otherwise, head over to St. Mungo’s website and give em a little somfink! What a fabulous organization! I noticed in the paper, they’re now allowing the long-term unemployed to sell as well. Considering these awful times, that’s one very wonderful decision! Big hugs to your mum for buying two each week :)
