Enzo, who happens to be an incredible dog, is a philosopher with knowledge gained from years of watching races with his master, Denny Swift, and the Discovery Channel. (He seemed to be a friend of @RosieandCheeto since he really wanted opposable thumbs).
Enzo has incredible insight into the humans and makes parallels between life and racing–that neither are simply about going fast.
The book starts with Enzo admitting he is about to die. On the eve of his death, Enzo looking at all the things Denny has been through: the sacrifices Denny has made to succeed professionally; the unexpected loss of Eve, Denny’s wife; and the three-year battle with the maternal grandparents over daughter, Zoe. In the end, despite what Enzos admits are his limitations, he saves the family in his own way.
This is a bitter sweet book since you know Enzo is going to die. However, as Enzo develops his philosophies and how to help his family, you are drawn into the story.
This book is an October/December #readpawty pick. We welcome all dog lovers to #readpawty.
