#Pawties and Events are where anipals and humans get together for a Twitterin’ good time. In their tweets they use an introductory hashtag (#) so everyone who wants to join in the fun can easily find them by searching Twitter for #(fill in the blank) pawty or #(event name). #Pawties and Events is where you will find out about the #Pawties taking place on Twitter and where I point you to the official The Anipal Times #Pawty & Events Calendar. Remember to check out the calendar so that you can find the dates and times to mix and mingle with anipals. Now let’s read about some of the #pawties and events that happened by the deadline for this article:

#SJFullMoon

24 September: Hostesses, or shall I call them ‘Purrime Ministerettes’, @ShivaandJaya held an awesome #SJFullMoon #pawty. @ShivaandJaya are being raised by an Indian mom, hence their Indian names, and are Buddhist kitties and believe in the Full Moon. “Every Full Moon in May, for example, is very impurrtant for Buddhists because on that day we celebrate Vesak! We has big pawty at home every May Full Moon, but the biggest of biggest pawties is September Full Moon when we turns one year older. This year us celebrated 23 September and next year  it will fall on 11 September,” said @ShivaandJaya. Attendees at #SJFullMoon had a great time mixing and mingling with anipal friends, dancing to some great tunes played by @HuboTheCat, and sipping on some tasty smoothies that @TinyPearlCat whipped up.  Most importantly #SJFullMoon helped educate all #pawty goers about cerebellar hypoplasia (CH) in cats. @ShivaandJaya added that “anipals had fun wiz us, and learned and shared how to save kittens wiz CH from an unnecessary death. Many kittens wiz CH are being put to sleep. We Purrime Ministerettes want to stop this!”  CH, a condition that Shiva has, is very near and dear to @ShivaandJaya and they encourage all anipals to learn more by reading their blog and watching a video where Shiva explains CH. “We always taking questions about EGC and CH! Please post them on bloggie and you get answer there because Twitter too fast!” said @ShivaandJaya.

#PawLove

25 September: #PawLove, held by @FrugalDougal, @SeattleP and @MattieDog, took place on Saturday night and it rocked the world–well at least Seattle, WA, USA! Not wanting to leave anyone out of the fun event, #PawLove also took place virtually on Twitter with @ShibberingC (Shibbering Cheetos) and @Niqqi serving as online hosts, helping to blend the two groups, live and virtual, into one big #pawty! Many humans and anipals, including @TinyPearlCat and @DeadTurkeyTweet, joined in the live #PawLove tweet-up, held at Seastar Restaurant and Raw Bar, to meet @FrugalDougal’s staff, and collaborate with the virtual #pawty goers to help raise funds for Homeward Pet, a Washington state animal rescue, shelter and adoption organization. Everyone enjoyed themselves immensely at the live tweet-up, where Seastar Restaurant donated $2 to Homeward Pet for every mojito and cosmopolitan served during the two-hour #PawLove event.  Attendees ate and drank some ‘nommie’ treats, shared stories like old friends, mixed and mingled with Homeward Pet volunteers, and enjoyed a lively raffle where ticket sale proceeds from some great items donated from Experience Music Project, Lost River Winery, Happy Hound Hotel, Julie Clegg Photography, Kritter Kondo, and many others went to help the animals at Homeward Pet. The online #PawLove pawtiers virtually enjoyed, served by the fabulous @Meow_Girls and @JustAnotherTrnd, the same great menu as the live tweet-up, and danced up a storm to happy tunes played by @FergustheDog and @GeorgeTheDuck.  The virtual #pawty goers also enjoyed some nice #PawLove prizes that were given away by the great quiz master @MaggieTKat; while @PushUpsnPaws and @SnowyWestie helped spread the word about Homeward Pet amongst the virtual attendees. Homeward Pet is a no-kill, non-profit animal shelter serving the greater Seattle area. Their mission is to give homeless animals a second chance through their rescue, shelter, and adoption programs. Every dollar raised during #PawLove will be put to great use by Homeward Pet, and their animals asked that I send each and every one of you who attended the #pawty a big, “Thank you!”
