As some anipals may already know, there is a general election in the United Kingdom on May 6th. This is usually just a hooman thing, but my furriends Shiva and Jaya recently announced that they plan to stand for election and become Purr-ime Ministers! Naturally, I wanted to find out more about their campaign, and they agreed to speak exclusively to The Anipal Times.

Thank you so much for agreeing to be interviewed for The Anipal Times, Shiva and Jaya. Could you tell our readers a bit about your background?

Jaya is ready to move into 10 Downing Street

We are Shiva (tortie) and Jaya (tuxie)! They say we are sisters because in September of 2007, we were rescued along wiz some other kittens from a glass recycle bin. We not knows who dumped us there, but somebody called the police cats and ultimately we ended up at a specialized kitten shelter where a sweet woman named Patricia took care of us. We was bottle-fed and under the supervision of a vet, Patricia teached us to trust in hoomans since we not knows what it’s like to has mommy kitty. When we was three months, we ended up wiz our mom. Our names are Indian because our mom Indian. Shiva means auspiciousness. Jaya means victory. Mom not only luvs these names, but she also believed they suits us! We has no health purroblems after glass bin adventure. The only little phing is that I (Shiva) has cerebellar hypoplasia! We rents a room in Buckingham Palace, London.

From a glass recycling bin to Buckingham Palace is quite a journey! A lot of cats would be happy to just enjoy a life of luxury. So what made you decide to go into politics?

We not sure if we want to call it politics. The word politics has not really a good meaning! We just stands for change on Planet Purrth. We so sad about hoomans that make war in Afghanistan and Iraq and the many who have died. Other phing we not likes is material world. Hoomans offer no solutions. What Planet Purrth needs now is luv sweet luv and we can gives if all kitties stick togetha!

I like the sound of more luv! What other changes can we expect if you are elected?

A lot of animals are suffering these days because hoomans does bad stuff to them. We mean kitties, doggies, but also horsies and purrhaps even snakies! We wants all of them to be happy, therefore we has developed a purrogram that says:

Shiva relaxes before going out to campaign for votes

• Homes for all domestic anipals!
• Free noms for all!
• No material hoomans!
• No wars!
• No hate!

If we wins 10 Downing St we welcome other kitties, but also doggies, the Queen’s horsies and even the sharkies from the London Aquarium to join us in our journey to sends more luv sweet luv into Planet Purrth! They can be advisors to us or repurresentatives. Hoomans will be staff. At best. But we rather not has them involved because they phinx they can makes money out of war and we not cares for material things. What the Planet Purrth needs now is luv sweet luv! Is the only phing there is much too little of! We will change!
