A number of anipals, including AutumntheDoxie, TheNascarKitty and SeattleP, have big plans to host the Anipal Academy Awards, and all the “town” is abuzz! The Anipal Academy Awards are like the human version only way better. The Anipal Academy Awards will include a big event that takes place on Twitter so all the anipals can gather, get dressed up, and attend the official awards ceremony #pawty where all of the winners will get announced!
Award Categories
Award categories for the public vote include Coolest Cat, Coolest Dog, Coolest Hooman, Best Avatar, Funniest Over All, Kind Hearted, Most Creative, Coolest Newbie, and Most Likely to Take Over the World. Categories for video and photographs include Best Action Sequence (for video), Best Still Photography, Best Camera Man or Woman, Worst Performance in Video, Props Department, Set Makers, Staff, and Best Make-Up Artist.
Submit Nominations
Submit your nominations, including videos and photographs if applicable, to the Anipal Academy Awards email at anipalacademyawards AT gmail DOT com. The submissions and nominations will have a public voting period as well as a panel of celebrity judges. Boris Kitty, BZTAT, MizzBassie, PuppyaGuineaPig, Shibbering Cheetos, and ZackRabbit will be helping to select the final Anipal Academy Award winners. The award winners will be announced at the official Anipal Academy Awards #pawty. The date and time will soon be announced.
The contest and voting start May 7th and run through May 27th, so think about who you would like to nominate and dig through your photographs and videos to include in your submissions. When @AutumnTheDoxie approached me with this idea, we thought it’d end up a small fun Pawty like the previous FunPawty that we held, but after builing a great committee of anipals, and starting the planning, this thing just ballooned.
For this year we chose 10 categories, and three different committees (Kitteh, Doggie, Other) scoured twitter and researched and came up with 10 nominees for each committee. Starting in early May, a public Voting site will be up to choose the winner. Each catagory will also have an option to write-in a vote for a different anipal.
Now, how about an ANIPAL TIMES EXCLUSIVE SCOOP!!!!
WE are adding THREE “Anipals Choice” catagories this year!!! These catagories have NO nominees, and will be decided by submissions on the Voting site.
AND, next year (oh yeah, this is annual!!!) we will start sooner and each catagory will have at least 6 of it’s 10 nominees chosen by THE PUBLIC vote!!! We couldn’t logistically do that this year.
The actual day of the Cermony (TBD) will include a “green-carpet” pre-show to show off your outfits, the actual Awards Ceremony (using TweetGrid) and an huge AfterPawty!!
