When our humans think of Scully and Mulder, chances are that they are reminiscing about some silly show that was on when our grandparents were kittens. However, those of us on Twitter are lucky to know the ‘real’ Scully and Mulder. The real ones, of course, are a couple of cats from Joisey.
Recently, I was lucky enough to visit with ‘the’ Staffpurrson, who works for them and he was kind enough to share some insight into their purrsonal lives. At first Staffpurrson was a bit shy, claiming they were exactly as they seemed, so I did a little digging and this is what I found…
Scully and Mulder rescued Staffpurrson back in 1999. Scully picked him, and Mulder went along for the ride. And, while the two have been housemates for most of their lives, they aren’t really brother and sister. In fact, it seems that they merely tolerate each other.
Communication
Another surprising thing I found is that Scully is actually more talkative than Mulder. Scully seems more concerned about the goings on around the home. Her main focus is food, but she is also quick to point out when Mulder or Staffpurson are not living up to her expectations. I think one of her tweets from March 7th of this year pretty well sums her up, “I came. I ate. I meow for more.”
Mulder, on the other paw, is more of a kitty of action. Why waste a meow when you can just as easily knock something over to get a response? Mulder also finds that whacking his Staffpurrson on the face is an effective way of getting his attention.
Online however, it is Mulder that shares the most with his pals. He has a large circle of friends and is always quick to join a #pawpawty, jump into a conversation, or be forthcoming about his own life. I, for one, have learned to truly appreciate this characteristic about him these past few months. For, you see, my good friend Mulder has Cancer.
Mulder’s Health
Yes, Mulder is ill, but he is a fighter and has been sharing both his struggles and victories with us on twitter. From the evils of pilling and feelings of frustration, to the joys of going for days without a single barfisode, Mulder has been able to reach out to his friends for comfort and distraction. The one thing Staffpurrson did want me to share with you is that he is truly grateful for all the #pawcircles, prayers, and support that his family has received.
Notwithstanding the illness, life is normal for these three. Their tweets will easily make you meow out loud with laughter and remind you how lucky we all are to have such great anipals in our lives.
